Elections & In-Person Guest Speaker! Cornell Bitcoin Club Meeting #20 Follow-Up & #21 Info

Hi All,

Hope you've had a nice weekend! Here are the slides & recording from the 20th meeting. If anyone would like help onboarding to Nostr, please just let me know! To begin, I recommend BTC Sessions' tutorial videos on YouTube such as this one.

See you Wednesday, November 20th, at 6 pm in Gates G01! We will be having an In-Person Guest Speaker, Drew Armstrong, who is a prominent figure in the Bitcoin industry, especially regarding his leadership and contributions to Bitcoin mining.

Drew currently serves as the President and Chief Operating Officer ofCathedra Bitcoin, a company dedicated to developing and operating world-class Bitcoin mining infrastructure. Before joining Cathedra, Drew was a founding member of Galaxy Digital's Bitcoin mining team and helped build out Galaxy's mining equipment finance ("MiFi") product. Drew also worked in the firm's investment banking and principal investments divisions. Prior to joining Galaxy, Drew began his career at Barclays' investment bank, where he focused on the origination of esoteric securitized products, such as data center securitizations and collateralized fund obligations. Drew holds BAs in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Chicago.

Elections:

Elections are coming up on December 2nd! In our "Miner Meeting" on November 1st, we felt November 25th would be a good date so as not right before Thanksgiving when people would be traveling but before the end of the semester; however, I think lots of people are now leaving end of this week/ early next.

Each person running will give a short speech and everyone in the club will be able to vote. You can run for multiple positions. We will be using the CampusGroups Voting feature as it worked quite well in the Spring.

As our Constitution states, I will be stepping down and the positions that are available are:

  • President

  • Vice-President

  • Treasurer

  • Secretary

  • Public Relations Subcommittee Lead: Athletics & Alumni

  • Public Relations Subcommittee Lead: Academics

  • Public Relations Subcommittee Co-Lead: Undergraduate Community

  • Public Relations Subcommittee Co-Lead: Undergraduate Community

  • VP of Engagement

If you'd like to run for a position, please fill out this form. And, you are welcome to suggest a position if you feel one is missing or if there is some way in particular that you would like to contribute.
