Cornell Bitcoin Club Meeting #10 Follow-Up & Club Elections Information
Hi All,
Hope you're having a nice weekend! Here are the slides & recording from the tenth meeting.
This week was a really busy news week (so I'd recommend taking a look at the slides), or you can also see a larger consolidation through this tweet. Perhaps most relevant for us, Chaincode Labs (NYC) announced the "Bitcoin Scholarship." The scholarship covers 100% of the tuition for the recipient at any university worldwide. Application information here.
Main Topic: Bitcoin Transactions
Walkthrough of mempool.space
Bitcoin’s Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO) model
Transaction components (inputs, outputs, scripts, and signatures)
Different Bitcoin Addresses
Overview on Bitcoin Wallets
Trade-off considerations between fee savings & privacy
See you Thursday (05/02) at 5:30pm in OLIN HALL 155 for our last meeting of the semester (please note the change in location)! We will be having a lesson and holding elections.
In the future, we will only hold elections at the end of the Fall semester (positions will be for two-semester terms); however, I'd like to set a precedent for holding elections. On that note, I am going to prepare a speech and run for President. However, for this semester, I fear a speech requirement might deter those who are interested, so a 1.5-2-minute speech is not a requirement but would be encouraged.
Calendar:
04/30: Financial Freedom Research Info Session. In case you didn't previously fill out the form but are interested, I am going to send the invite to everyone shortly.
05/02 Part I: Bitcoin x Human Rights: We were supposed to have a guest speaker from the Human Rights Foundation; however, they had a schedule conflict, so I will give a lesson on this topic.
05/02 Part II: Elections: Please nominate yourself or someone else here. Detailed position descriptions can be found here. My hope is that you're beginning to see that you don't need to change your interest to be interested in Bitcoin, so if there's a different way not listed that you'd like to contribute, please let me know!
